Registry
The Lung Health Registry helps to connect Canadians interested in their lung health with research studies across the country.
What is a Registry?
A database that collects and securely stores detailed information about people with a specific condition.
What is the Lung Health Registry?
The registry invites adult Canadians (18 years of age or older) who are interested in their lung health, who may or may not have lung disease, and who are interested in participating in research studies to complete an on-line survey about their current health and respiratory symptoms.
The lung health registry has been developed by researchers of the Canadian Respiratory Research Network with public consultation.
The registry helps match participants with ongoing lung health research studies in Canada.
Why does Canada need a Lung Health Registry?
Lung conditions are one of the leading causes of death in Canada. People with breathing problems experience many challenges which have been made worse in recent years by the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, e-cigarette use in youth, poor air quality caused by wildfires, and the worsening of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Recognizing the importance of lung health, Canadians researchers are eager to investigate the causes of poor lung health and disease. Recruitment of research participants for their studies can be resource intensive and logistically complicated. The Registry team will facilitate this recruitment by connecting interested and eligible Canadians with research studies focused on various aspects of lung health and disease.
